JULY 2014
Stephen Browne's Life
It was a busy afternoon at the Browne farm on Pleasant Valley Road in Knox as two barn quilts were installed. The 8'x8' original design is called "Stephen Browne's Life in Wood and Fabric" and depicts meaningful aspects of his life. It's high up on the big barn which is currently under re-construction. Visitors may drive down the long driveway and turn around at the circle, but are asked to respect private property by staying in their cars. See it on the barn here (scroll down).

Diamond in a Square
We welcomed "Diamond in a Square", a 6'x6' barn quilt at the Browne farm in Knox. The owner made a fabric quilt in this Amish pattern in traditional colors and had it replicated as a barn quilt. Visitors may drive down the driveway to view the quilt and then turn around in the circle. Please respect private property by staying in your vehicle. See it on the barn here (scroll down).

Dutch Puzzle
"Dutch Puzzle" joined the quilt barn trail in time for "The Quilts of Berne and Knox" quilt show. Can you see the Dutch windmill swirling around on the 8'x8' barn quilt? This traditional pattern was designed and painted by the owner, then built by a local contractor. It's on a main route in Berne, so be careful when you slow down to look at it! See the barn here (scroll down).

Clay's Choice
On a hot summer morning, Dennis Barber installed this 8'x8' "Clay's Choice" on the side of his barn facing Pleasant Valley Road in Knox. His father-in-law Bob Flagler and John Elberfeld lent a hand, while Brian Whipple handled the bucket loader. Dennis's mother was a well-known quilter, and this pattern is from one of her many quilts. See the barn here. Check out the installation here (scroll down).
